Christie Tapped to Give GOP Keynote at Convention

NEWSMAX:  Chris Christie, the New Jersey governor who last year spurned pleas from fellow Republicans to make a bid for the White House, will be the keynote speaker at the Republican National Convention, a Republican official said. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of the announcement, which is expected today.

“I’ll try to tell some very direct and hard truths to people in the country about the trouble that we’re in and and the fact that fixing these problems is not going to be easy for any of them,” Christie told USA Today in an interview about his role at the convention, where Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will be nominated as the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates.

He told the paper he would use his experience in New Jersey to show that “the American people are ready to confront those problems head-on and endure some sacrifice.” USA Today earlier reported his selection…  (more)

EDITOR:   The speech will be a ‘two-four’, the keynote address at the 2012 Republican Convention and, if Mitt Romny loses, Christie’s opening speech for Christie’s bid  for nomination in 2016.
