Calling out states’ rights hypocrites

SCRANTON TIMES-REVIEW Editorial:  …Two bills that have passed the House and await action in the Senate would make a mockery of the notion that states may regulate firearm use – even though one of the bills is called the Respecting States Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. The other is the National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act.

State Attorney General-elect Kathleen Kane was criticized by the National Rifle Association this week for joining with eight sitting attorneys general from other states, in asking the Senate to reject both bills.

Together the bills, in effect, would make the nation’s worst state gun laws the national standard. They would require any state to recognize a concealed-carry gun permit issued by another state, even if that state has no meaningful standard for vetting applicants…  (more)
