All hotels are having a tough time at these days due to economic conditions. However, there is a big odor to this situation. The powers that be will and are doing everything they can to make this project work even if it is to sacrifice other businesses on the way. There is not nor ever will be enough lodging for this complex to stay healthy… There is little to nothing to do, places to shop or dine! The location was just not the right location for a CC and that is the story. Can it become a center of attraction? Seniors would possibly be the main visitors due to history interest. 50 and under want action and selection.
Take a trip to Phoenixville, near Philadelphia. What a great little city and did they do their job to survive and revitalize. NO CONVENTION CENTER. Their first Friday is a blast. From baby carriages to seniors, the streets and walks were filled with business action. One store after another, ice cream parlors, sandwich shops, restaurants with cafe flair on the walks, stores that are affordable to ALL age groups. People had food and bags of merchandise. Spread out were combos playing music, the atmosphere was wonderful. Take a ride and tell me that should be Lancaster!!!
Bull Crap. My sources have told me that the Brunswick owner has put several new floors in. The Mariott is just not booking rooms and what business the Brunswick has with buses and visitors, the Marriott is probably going to match the rates to get the business.
