“Bin Laden dead”; Kudos to Lancaster Newspapers for prompt coverage

The print media often runs 24 to 36 hours behind the  news due to its rigid deadlines, especially now when there is no evening edition.  Witness the subhead in another front page article in the Intelligencer Journal – New Era this morning: “NATO airstrike reportedly kills Gadhafi’s son, three of his grandchildren.”  NewsLanc so reported about thirty-six hours earlier when the news first broke.

But the presses must have been held up last night to carry the five column headline “Bin Laden dead; U. S. forces kill 9-11 master mind in Pakistan.  ‘Justice has been done’, President Barack Obama.”

Moreover the two Associated Press articles even carried  important information which the public only learned from the speech that the President gave last night close to mid-night!   Even though excerpts were likely provided to the media an hour or two beforehand, this was an impressive coordination between the AP and the Lancaster Newspapers.

Lastly, the newspaper was at the doorstep at 6:00 a. m., just as it always is.

Some people earned their pay on a Sunday night.

A wag of the tail!
