Big explosion at Japanese nuclear plant The crisis at a quake-stricken nuclear plant north of Tokyo deepened after an explosion was reported at the site and a building that authorities said may house one of its reactors appeared to have suffered critical damage.

The Japanese government has instructed residents living within 20km of the power plant to evacuate, expanding the range from the 10km radius previously announced.
