As the country celebrates the July 4th holiday, the symbol that represents America’s independence continues its strong comeback locally and throughout Pennsylvania.
Bald eagle sightings have become almost commonplace in areas of Northeastern Pennsylvania, evidence that the majestic bird has made enormous strides since it was on the verge of extinction a few decades ago. (NewsLanc note: There were 16 sightings of nesting pairs in Lancaster County.)
The comeback is apparent around the state, where, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, bald eagles are now nesting in 50 counties. As recently as 1983, only three Crawford County nests remained in the state…
