Armstong closes Beaver Falls Plant

BEAVER COUNTY NEWS:  Friday is the last day for workers at the Armstrong World Industries specialty ceiling tile plant in Beaver Falls, but a new owner takes control of the property on Monday, officials said Thursday.

The Lancaster, Pa.-based company, which has four other ceiling tile plants in the United States, has been slowly phasing out jobs at the 107-year-old plant at 1018 11th St. since July 2010 in preparation for its closing. About 125 hourly and 25 salaried positions were lost.

Company spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson confirmed that the last few workers will finish cleaning up the plant this afternoon. She said a new owner will take control of the site Monday, but Johnson would not identify the new owner or what plans the new owner has for the property…  (more)
