Anti-Corbett ‘schools not prisons’ mantra misses the mark: analysis

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS: …Funding for education did drop precipitously in {Gov. Tom] Corbett’s first term – not because he cut the state’s contribution to basic education, but rather because temporary federal stimulus funding that had been thrown into the education budget by Gov. Ed Rendell ran out.

Corbett chose not to raise state taxes to replace the nearly $1 billion that everyone — including Rendell — knew would eventually disappear.
