Another missed opportunity for reform

…Nowadays, almost all routine PennDOT business can be done with a few clicks of a mouse. Furthermore, the vast majority of non-commercial PennDOT business deals with license renewals, registration renewals, address changes, and the like.

So the idea that we must maintain a special PennDOT unit solely to process paperwork submitted by lawmakers — who remain ever eager to curry favor with constituents — has become largely obsolete.

It’s just not that difficult to get your vehicle credentials in order these days. And yet, more than 220,000 cases submitted by House staffers move through this PennDOT unit each year…
