AG Kane slams appointment of mediator in Porngate case

PHILLY.COM:  Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane on Sunday lambasted a judicial panel for naming a well-connected lawyer to mediate Supreme Court Justice J. Michael Eakin’s Porngate case, calling it a step to “sweep his hate-filled emails under the rug.”

Kane was reacting to the Court of Judicial Conduct’s decision to name prominent Philadelphia attorney Richard A. Sprague to serve as a mediator in the case against Eakin, who has been awaiting a public disciplinary hearing for exchanging salacious, misogynistic, and racially offensive emails…

Kane is awaiting a criminal trial, scheduled for August, on charges of perjury, official oppression, and obstruction. The Supreme Court has suspended her law license because of her arrest, prompting Republicans in the state Senate to propose ousting her from office…  (more)

EDITOR:  The sooner her trial, the better.   Here’s betting that the Montgomery County prosecutors will find some way to try to postpone it.

  1. Our system is infested with attorneys that have been elected and prove Jefferson was right on the money when he said the only people that should never be permitted to run for public office are attorneys. Of course they want mediators to sit in judgement of them as mediators are attorneys. The BAR Association does not have the highest criminal conviction rate of any group in America for no reason. We have no one to blame for this but ourselves.

  2. At this point it appears mediation will not happen.

Trial is set for March 29 in Philadelphia. Plan is to jam the courtroom.
