AG Drops Appeal in Prosecution of Ex-PSU Officials

THE LEGAL INTELLIGENCER:  The state Attorney General’s Office has decided not to ask the Supreme Court to reinstate several dismissed charges against three former Penn State officials awaiting trial for allegedly covering up sex abuse by serial child molester Jerry Sandusky.

In January, the Superior Court quashed charges of perjury, obstruction of justice and conspiracy against former university president Graham Spanier, ex-senior vice president for business and finance Gary Schultz and ex-athletic director Tim Curley…

“Attorney General Kane recognizes the efforts of members of her office to get the cases to this point, but now directs her staff shall proceed in accordance with the opinions of the Superior Court, and prepare the cases for trial,” the statement said…  (more)
