After jump in May, County room sales tax proceeds plummet in July

According to the County Treasurer’s office, collection of the 5% hotel room sales tax dropped  from $790,790 in July, 2011, to $712,609 for July, 2012,  a slide of $78,181 or approximately 10%.

Nevertheless, collections for the year through July,2012 are up by $293,451, about 7½%.

The figures do not precisely reflect taxes earned for the month but rather taxes collected.
