A good question

In a letter to the editor of the Intelligencer Journal New Era enegtitled “Gray’s spending spree”, the widow Elizabeth Hess writes:

“Excuse me, now county residents are making Harrisburg and the county is paying for this totally unnecessary purchase. …Again, I ask, why are county residents paying …Harrisburg debts?”

Largely because the public was watching sporting events and the County Commissioners and Mayor Rick Gray didn’t give a damn.

It is a pathetic testimony ofconformity and apathy that hers is one of the few voices that question the $200 million boondoggle, driven by ego rather than expertise. There are no expert feasibility study or environmental report.

At least she can’t blame NewsLanc. We noticed and we indeed did care.
