70 mph speed limits coming to Pennsylvania in 2014

LEHIGH VALLEY MORNING CALL: It’s OK to drive 70 mph in Pennsylvania, a new law says, but motorists won’t be getting the green flag until summer at the earliest.

And exactly where depends on the outcome of safety studies by the state Department of Transportation and the Turnpike Commission. But the top contenders are sections of road already marked at 65 mph

By law, no state highway other than the Turnpike has been authorized for a 70 mph limit, “so this would be a first” for Pennsylvania, PennDOT spokesman Rich Kirkpatrick said. He wasn’t sure if the limit of 70 was ever put into effect on the toll road… (more)
