Editorial “Turnpike chief’s feigned outrage” opines: “CEO Mark Compton, of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, has announced a series of measures in the wake of corruption charges against his predecessor and four former turnpike employees, a disgraced former state Senate leader and two executives who did business with the turnpike….
“Compton not only wants a review of professional-services contracts, but all current contracts awarded during the time frame of the attorney general’s probe.
“This is to be done by the turnpike’s ‘Office of Compliance.’ But unless we miss our guess, shouldn’t this already have been done eons ago? After all, what does an Office of Compliance do but make sure all the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed?”
