Should the next Pennsylvania attorney general be barred from seeking higher office while serving?

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS:  Four candidates are running for attorney general this year, and history suggests they should be asked one question:  “When do you announce for governor?”

The candidates — Don Bailey, David Freed, Kathleen Kane and Patrick Murphy — say they aren’t looking to use the post as a tool to move up.

But since Pennsylvania’s attorney general’s office became an elected post 32 years ago, three of the four men elected to that office used it as a springboard to launch their gubernatorial campaigns…  (more)

EDITOR:    Of the two Democrat candidates, Patrick Murphy has pledged not to run for office while remaining in office only during his first term.   Kathleen Kane has pledged not to ever run for governor without first resigning her attorney general position.
