INTELLIGENCER NEW ERA

The following is found at the very end of  a long articleMillersville University faces possible layoffs. The university projects a budget shortfall of $3.4 million in the next fiscal year”:

“News of the potential layoffs comes as Millersville prepares to occupy the Pennsylvania Academy of Music building on North Prince Street this summer.

“The state intends to spend up to $14.5 million to buy, renovate and equip that structure on behalf of Millersville. All of the funds will come from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. However, those funds would come from PASSHE’s capital projects budget and its office, furniture and fixtures budget. These are separate from the funds allocated to Millersville for its operating budget.”

WATCHDOG:

Perhaps the $14.5 comes from different budgets for the university, but it all come out of the tax payers’ pockets.  The Old Hound thinks they paid at least $6 million too much.
