1.8 million across Pa. to feel cut in food aid

PITTSBURG POST GAZETTE: Come November, almost 1.8 million Pennsylvanians who receive food stamps will get less money every month for their groceries.

The cut is the result of the scheduled Nov. 1 expiration of a temporary boost in food stamp funding paid for by the 2009 federal stimulus act.

The decline in funds is estimated to be about $29 per household per month for a family of three, or $36 per household per month for a family of four, according to a study released last week from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a think tank that analyzes issues impacting low-income people… (more)
