Lawmakers scared of the return of a vindicated and vindictive Kathleen Kane

HOUSE COMMITEE TABLES KANE IMPEACHMENT

CAPITOL WIRE:  State lawmakers have decided not to proceed with the impeachment of Pennsylvania’s former top prosecutor, but are leaving the option on the table to return to in the future, if necessary.

The House Subcommittee on Courts did not recommend the impeachment of former Attorney General Kathleen Kane, as she has already resigned from her post and is facing a 10 to 23-month jail sentence for perjury and criminal conspiracy, according to a press release from Rep. Todd Stephens, chairman of the subcommittee.

“Though a majority of the subcommittee members believe that the evidence presented at the hearing detailed conduct which would meet the definition of “misbehavior in office,” a majority of the subcommittee members have decided that the conviction in a criminal court of the attorney general accomplishes the objectives of impeachment, i.e., removal from office and a ban on holding any other office of trust in the Commonwealth,” the report stated… (more)
