The Newstead Trio kick off PAM Concert Series with Russian, American and Chinese works

The Newstead Trio, an ensemble residence at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music, will launch PAM’s concert series on January 28 at Highland Presbyterian Church with an international lineup of composers.

Comprised of Michael Jamanis, Sara Male, and Xun Pan, the ensemble will perform Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque No. 1 in G minor op.posth.; Ping Jin’s “Xipi: Themes from Peking Opera;” American composer Julia Smith’s “Trio Cornwall;” and Russian composer Anton Arensky’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 32.

Concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. by public radio personality and composer Dr. Dick Strawser.
