In an August 22nd article, “Eleven LGH physicians chosen as ‘Top Doctors’”, we reported: “The Castle Connolly Guide of 30,000 ‘‘Top Doctors” featured in News Week magazine includes eleven physicians from Lancaster General Hospital.”
In order to get a sense of how LGH staff did in comparison with the staffs of the other hospitals within a 25 mile area, we noted the hospital affiliation of the the initial three listings under each specialty and sub-specialty.
Below are the findings:
Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center: 19
Reading Hospital and Medical Center: 11
Lancaster General Hospital: 5
York Hospital: 3
St. Joseph Medical Center: 3
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania: 1
Pinnacle Health Hospitals: 1
Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital: 1
Three of the doctors listed are attached to two different hospitals: One with LGH and the Hospital of the University of PA; Two with St. Joseph Medical Center and Reading Hospital and Medicine Center
I am not at all surprised. Hershey Medical cares for me and I would drive the 45 min. to get there rather than be seen at LGH.
