Control of state Senate up for grabs

Republicans, who also have a majority in the House, believe their party can pick up seats and make gains in the Senate, due to the demographics of the Democratic-held seats on the ballot. They also have high hopes for the race in a newly created district in the Pocono Mountain region…

Statewide, Democrats are getting assistance from the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, a Washington, D.C.-based group that focuses on state legislative campaigns. The Pennsylvania Senate is one of the top chambers in the country the group is focused on flipping; the DLCC has given about $460,000 to date in support of those efforts, said Kurt Fritts, the group’s national political director.… (more)
