Suggestion to improve LancasterOnLine

Posted on March 2nd, 2013 in News and Commentary

Lancaster Newspapers, Inc’s print editions and  website fail to carry much pertinent news and commentary pertaining to the state and, when they do, it is often delayed.   It is fully understandable that the Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. cannot afford to have its own state bureau.  Nor can it timely and without cost acquire articles from prime generators, usually larger web sites from Pittsburgh, Harrisburg,  Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia.

As a segue to the future, it might behoove four or five of the key state web sites to agree to share Pennsylvania coverage either through allowing access with attribution or, for web sites that do not generate state news, for a moderate fee.

The web sites would share articles simultaneously with their own posting.

State news is important to many viewers.    The future of the Lancaster Newspapers as well as others publications depends on providing more value and more viewers to enhance advertising revenue and to sell  subscriptions.   Content counts!

With the number of staff on the payroll of the Sunday News (which prints ONE DAY A WEEK!!!), one would thinkh that surely SOMEONE could be assigned to cover state-wide news on a DAILY basis.

Unless, they are all creating ads for the Sunday News, which is usually as much or more newsprint as the actual paper.

"....I have never made it a consideration whether the subject was popular or unpopular, but whether it was right or wrong; for that which is right will become popular, and that which is wrong, though by mistake it may obtain the cry or fashion of the day, will soon lose the power of delusion, and sink into disesteem." Thomas Paine, Common Sense, on "Financing the War", March 5, 1782
