INTELLIGENCER JOURNAL / NEW ERA

Article “Attorney General’s move on Pa. Lottery deal surprised some local lawmakers” states towards the end:

“Camelot’s bid expires Saturday, which allows it to get back a $50 million security deposit. The money was supposed to be used to pay the Corbett administration’s consultants for their services during the contract process.”

WATCHDOG: It is that $50 million to pay consultants and others for their services which is the impetus behind so many public project and government initiatives.  The virtual bankruptcy of Harrisburg is the result of “consultants” coming up with schemes for public projects with a deep trough from which to feed.  And, of course, we saw with the local Lancaster Convention Center project.

We fail to empathize  with  both Governor Tom Corbett’s retainers and Ed Rendell and his cohorts who may have to wait longer or even possibly miss this feeding frenzy.

Incidentally, the article deserves a wag of the tail.

"....I have never made it a consideration whether the subject was popular or unpopular, but whether it was right or wrong; for that which is right will become popular, and that which is wrong, though by mistake it may obtain the cry or fashion of the day, will soon lose the power of delusion, and sink into disesteem." Thomas Paine, Common Sense, on "Financing the War", March 5, 1782
