Absolutely. I agree that addicts are branded for a disease which afflicts housewives and mothers through prescription drug abuse, those suffering from unbearable pain for which the Dr. prescribes painkillers and many times the patient becomes addicted. Some people are addicted to food, others to sex, others to pornography.....who determines which person receives the scarlett letter??

Even after an addict is in recovery, working, doing all that is expected of a good citizen, a cloud of shame will hang over his/her head for the rest of his/her life. Should the shadow of addiction appear on a background check, you can be sure that person will be passed over in most cases. Society had better wake up....there have always been addicts, and there are no more addicts today per capita than ever, just more very stupid lawmakers who are jail crazy and want to lock up, rather than rehabilitate the person who is addicted.

It has been my experience that many Lancasterians are so angry (due to PR from the government) that they prefer addicts be thrown in jail - not treated. Even the Christian based communities have zero forgivness for the addicted.

What country wages a war on its addicted?
Everyone looses that war for sure.
