ASSOCIATED PRESS / INTELL

Article “Sebelius breaks with task force on mammograms” goes on to quote Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as follows:  “[The task force] does not set federal policy and they don’t determine what services are covered by the federal government.”

WATCHDOG: An example of how any attempt to generate sensible economies will be thwarted by understandable political considerations unless and until there is a single payer system under the jurisdiction of authorities with the knowledge, will and mandate to provide quality, efficient health care.

Wow. “Under the jurisdiction of authorities with the knowledge, will and mandate to provide quality, efficient health care.” Where exactly are these paragons of medical and financial genius to be found? I assume you’re talking here about a government bureaucracy. You’re certainly describing socialism again. Maybe you somehow failed to notice how well socialism has done throughout history, most recently with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the communist bloc. [Sarcasm intended]

You surely cannot be so naive as to believe that this is what you’ll get, can you? This may be what you WANT, but what you will GET is the Social Security Administration, IRS, FEMA, $600 toilet seats, etc., all over again. You can have it, for all I care. But please don’t force this on the rest of us who understand that the federal government WILL take over our health care system and we WILL learn to regret it.
