A sold-out convention center appearance by a Houston-based Christian speaker in early November has made hotel rooms hard to find in the area.

“The economic impact of this two-day event will be huge,” said Brian Oaks, general manager of the Prairie Capital Convention Center, where “Living Proof Live featuring Beth Moore” will be staged.

While I disagree with government being involved in such projects, a Sovereign Center-like stadium would have made so much more sense for Lancaster given the population.  Over night, Lancaster County would have become the Christian music capitol of the East coast.  Regularly,3,000+ concerts fill up overnight in Lancaster county churches.

Had they been thinking of what’s good for the county/city instead of Dale High, they would have realized that thousands of people from Lititz, Gap, Quarryville, etc making their way to the city for a concert would have been a boom to the city.  AND as a side benefit would have restored people’s confidence that they can travel there safely.

I have been saying for years that shutting down the loop effectively cut off a generations of kids from going into the city.  Previously the city had fond memories of hanging out with friends and meeting new people.  Now?  They have grown up being afraid of what might happen to them!

"....I have never made it a consideration whether the subject was popular or unpopular, but whether it was right or wrong; for that which is right will become popular, and that which is wrong, though by mistake it may obtain the cry or fashion of the day, will soon lose the power of delusion, and sink into disesteem." Thomas Paine, Common Sense, on "Financing the War", March 5, 1782
