YMCA membership more than doubles in a year

According to Jeffrey Kenderdine, Chief Executive Officer of The Lancaster Family YMCA, “Last year we were just under 4600 members and 3700 the year prior.” The “Y” currently serves “over 11,200 members.”

The City WMCA opened its doors on Sept. 24 of its new facility on the Harrisburg Pike opened. By the end of the month, it had attracted 416 additional members.

Earlier this year, the Lancaster Family YMCA opened the Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA.

Kenderdine further related, “Of the 11,200 members, 33% are youth and teens. 3680 individuals under the age of 18 now call the YMCA ‘theirs’; many of these children are part of family memberships…”

"....I have never made it a consideration whether the subject was popular or unpopular, but whether it was right or wrong; for that which is right will become popular, and that which is wrong, though by mistake it may obtain the cry or fashion of the day, will soon lose the power of delusion, and sink into disesteem."
