Kevin Fry nominated as LCCCA Chair

At a special meeting of the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority (LCCCA) on the evening of July 9, members of the Board nominated Kevin Fry to serve as the next Chair of the LCCCA. Fry—Vice President of CBRE real estate corporation’s Harrisburg office—currently serves as the LCCCA Secretary, as well as Chair of the Public Relations, Marketing, and Hospitality Committee. The nomination was passed by a committee led by Sharron Nelson, including Laura Douglas and Julie Dickson (who was not present for Thursday’s vote). The committee also nominated Nelson as the replacement for Fry’s current role as Secretary.

At the June 25 LCCCA meeting, current Chair Art Morris announced his resignation, effective the last day of July. And, at the July 9 meeting, it was announced that that Board Members Laura Douglas and Julie Dickson will not seek re-appointment for their roles on the Board.

Regarding the selection of Fry, Nelson stated, “We feel he has experience in multiple ways. Certainly, he doesn’t have the construction background that Mr. Morris has, but he has the skill-set that comes with this kind of operation…”

The guiding standard for future Board selections, Nelson said, would be “the willingness to deal with minutia, the willingness to gracefully answer questions as they come about. I think Mr. Morris has set a high bar for all of us.”

"....I have never made it a consideration whether the subject was popular or unpopular, but whether it was right or wrong; for that which is right will become popular, and that which is wrong, though by mistake it may obtain the cry or fashion of the day, will soon lose the power of delusion, and sink into disesteem."
